Elementary Special Education Teacher – Dallas, TX
Position Summary
The Elementary Special Education (SPED) Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in an elementary school setting. The teacher develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborates with school staff and families, and ensures students receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction
- Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
- Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and parents
- Participate in ARD/IEP meetings
- Implement behavior intervention strategies and classroom management plans
- Maintain compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with Special Education EC–12 certification (or eligibility)
- Knowledge of IEP development and special education regulations
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
