Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school with an active Wisconsin RN license.

Certifications Requirements:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred.
• CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) preferred.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 1+ years of OR nursing experience, specifically with CVOR cases.
• Previous travel experience preferred.
• Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to operate and support surgical machines such as Blood Gasses, TEE’s, and Ultrasounds.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
• Willingness to participate in weekend on-call rotations, approximately once a month.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care to cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to prepare and maintain sterile fields and instruments.
• Support anesthesia and surgical teams during complex procedures like CABG, TAVR, and transplants.
• Monitor patient vitals and pain levels, documenting accurately before and after medication administration.
• Execute patient safety protocols and assist with emergency responses as needed.
