# Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU / Stepdown – Transplant
**Location:** Columbus, OH 43210
**Facility:** Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
**Unit:** Transplant & Hepatology – Mixed Acuity
**Contract:** 13 Weeks
**Start Date:** November 2, 2026
**Shift:** Nights | 3x12s | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
**Hours:** 36 hours/week
**Schedule:** No block scheduling
**Weekend Requirement:** Every other weekend
**Travel Experience:** Not required – first-time travelers accepted
## Position Overview
Maximum Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced **PCU / Stepdown Registered Nurse** for a 13-week travel assignment at **Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio**.
This is a mixed-acuity **Transplant and Hepatology unit** caring for adult patients undergoing kidney, liver and pancreas transplants as well as patients with complex hepatology, renal and gastrointestinal conditions.
## Minimum Requirements
- Active **Ohio RN or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission**
- **1+ year of strong PCU/Stepdown experience**
- Candidates with primarily MS/Tele backgrounds should have approximately **4 years of relevant experience**
- Current **BLS**
- Current **ACLS**
- **EPIC experience required**
- Strong cardiac monitoring and telemetry skills
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Central and peripheral line management experience
- Comfortable floating to other units within the OSU organization
- Graduate of an **ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program**
**First-time travelers are welcome.** Candidates with only one year of experience will require manager review.
## Clinical Skills
Candidates should be comfortable with:
- PCU / Stepdown / IMC patient care
- Telemetry monitoring
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Central line care and management
- Peripheral IV care
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- PICC line management
- Port access and management
- IV insulin protocols
- Nasal cannula oxygen therapy
- Non-invasive airway management
- Phlebotomy
## Patient Population
The unit primarily cares for adult patients with:
- Kidney transplants
- Liver transplants
- Pancreas transplants
- Suspected transplant rejection
- Post-transplant infections
- Acute kidney injury (AKI)
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Hepatology conditions
- GI bleeds
- Kidney biopsy recovery
- Paracentesis
Special equipment includes **telemetry, bladder scanners and Dopplers**.
## Schedule & Assignment Details
- Night shift: **7:00 PM – 7:30 AM**
- 3x12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- 13-week assignment
- Every other weekend
- Rotating holidays
- No block scheduling
- Floating within the OSU organization is required
- Locals accepted
- First-time travelers accepted
## Credentialing Requirements
Ohio State has a **strict credentialing deadline**, so candidates must be responsive and prepared to complete onboarding immediately after accepting an offer.
- Ohio fingerprinting must be completed promptly after booking
- Candidates within driving distance may be required to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location
- RTO must be provided at time of submission
- **2 professional references required**
- At least 1 reference must be from a manager, director or supervisor
- A Charge RN may serve as the second reference
- Coworker references are not accepted
- RN license must be active and in hand at submission
- Current OSU employees are not eligible for travel assignments
- Former OSU employees must have been away from the facility for at least 6 months
## Vaccination Requirements
- **Flu Vaccine:** Required – medical exemptions only
- **COVID-19 Vaccine:** Not required
