Position Overview

Penn State Health is seeking an experienced Critical Care PA to provide coverage in a high-acuity Cardiac/CVICU environment. The ideal provider will have strong experience managing critically ill cardiovascular patients and advanced mechanical circulatory support.
 

Key Clinical Experience Required

• Critical Care/CVICU experience
• VA & VV ECMO
• Impella
• LVAD
• Cardiac transplant
• IABP management/removal
• Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Arterial and central line procedures
• Post-operative cardiac patient management

Responsibilities

• Daily rounding and management of assigned ICU patients
• Patient admissions and evaluations
• Order entry and ongoing treatment management
• Post-operative management
• Management of complex cardiac ICU patients under Intensivist guidance
• Perform arterial lines, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheter procedures and IABP removal
• Collaborate with intensivists and multidisciplinary critical care teams

Patient Volume: 8–12 patients/shift
Department: 30 beds
Admissions: Required
Stroke Certified: Yes

 

Ideal Candidate

• PA/NP with significant Critical Care/CVICU experience
• Board Certified
• Experienced with ECMO, Impella, LVAD and cardiac transplant
• Available for 3 × 13-hour shifts per week
• Comfortable working nights, weekends and holidays
• Able to commit through March 2027
