JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
The Loan Specialist I is responsible for maintaining escrow and insurance information on loan accounts, performing escrow-related servicing functions, processing insurance and tax disbursements, completing escrow analyses, and ensuring loan records are accurately maintained within the Bank's core system. This position works closely with our lending staff, insurance agents, tax authorities, and internal departments to support the servicing of the Bank's loan portfolio.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform annual and periodic escrow analyses
- Process escrow disbursements for property taxes, hazard insurance, flood insurance, and other escrowed items.
- Set up, update, and maintain escrow records on loan accounts
- Add and maintain insurance policy information on loan accounts upon receipt of coverage documentation
- Review tax bills and insurance invoices for processing and payment from escrow accounts
- Research and resolve escrow account discrepancies, shortages, surpluses, and payment issues
- Communicate with insurance agencies, tax authorities, and internal staff regarding escrow and insurance servicing matters
- Maintain accurate loan servicing records and documentation
- Complete various escrow, tax, and insurance servicing reports
- Assist with audits, examinations, and compliance reviews
- Provide excellent customer service and timely response to inquiries
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Position Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 1+ years of clerical and/or banking experience
- Exceptional computer and technology skills including Microsoft Office with a heavy concentration in Excel
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong mathematical aptitude, with ability to analyze and reconcile accounts
- High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree with a concentration in Business, Accounting, or Finance
- Prior loan operations experience
- Prior escrow servicing experience
