We are seeking a relationship-driven Loan Officer to develop and manage a portfolio of lending clients while generating new business opportunities for the bank. This individual will work closely with borrowers to understand their financial needs, structure appropriate lending solutions, evaluate creditworthiness, and guide loans from initial application through closing.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients to generate lending and banking opportunities
• Prospect for new business through networking, referrals, community involvement, and relationship development
• Meet with prospective borrowers to understand their financial needs and recommend appropriate lending solutions
• Originate, structure, and manage commercial, real estate, and consumer loans as appropriate
• Review financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, cash flow, collateral, and other financial information
• Work closely with credit analysts and underwriting teams to evaluate loan requests and prepare credit packages
• Present loan recommendations for approval in accordance with the bank’s lending policies
• Negotiate loan terms, rates, collateral requirements, and repayment structures
• Coordinate loan documentation, closing, and funding with internal teams and outside parties
• Manage an existing loan portfolio, including renewals, modifications, and ongoing credit monitoring
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through deposits, treasury management, and other banking services
• Maintain strong knowledge of banking regulations, lending policies, and compliance requirements
• Provide a high level of service throughout the lending process and maintain long-term client relationships
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field preferred
• Previous experience in banking, lending, commercial banking, credit analysis, or financial services preferred
• Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial statements, cash flow, and lending fundamentals
• Ability to develop new business and build long-term client relationships
• Strong sales, networking, and business development skills
• Ability to evaluate risk and structure lending solutions based on a client’s financial position
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple client relationships and loan opportunities simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within established lending and compliance guidelines
• Existing relationships within the local business community are a plus
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with credit, operations, and leadership teams
