    JOB TITLE: Radiology Technician w/ Medical Assistant                                           

     
    JOB SUMMARY: Ensure high quality healthcare for all patients and visitors. The radiology technician assists the provider in identifying illnesses and injuries with the use of diagnostic imaging equipment such as x-ray. He or she will interact directly with patients to accurately maintain patient records while remaining HIPAA compliant.
     
    ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE:  Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command.
     
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1.      Radiology Technician
    ·         Prepare examination rooms for patient examinations.
    ·         Completing the patients’ intake process, taking patients’ histories, and preparing and educating patients about the imaging procedure.
    ·         Reviewing patients’ charts and doctors’ notes before the examination and maintaining patients’ records during and after procedures.
    ·         Position patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images.
    ·         Calibrating the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor.

    ·         Monitoring patients during examinations, ensuring their safety, and following procedures to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation. 
    ·         Producing diagnostic images, reporting important information to the physician or provider, and updating patients’ records.
    ·         Organizing and monitoring radiographic supplies. 
    ·         Performing administrative tasks, such as answering technical questions.
    ·         Performing scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on radiographic equipment.
    ·         Ensuring proper sterilization and storage of equipment, maintaining radiographic equipment, and reporting any equipment failures.
    ·         Coordinating with the radiology department to schedule and complete radiographic procedures.
    ·         Maintaining up to date knowledge of current radiology practices.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1.      Medical Assistant: 
    ·         Assist with the identification of “high risk” patients.
    ·         Take and record a patient’s height and weight, vital including blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
    ·         Conduct visual acuity testing, ekg, urine dipstick, rapid strep, rapid flu, rapid covid, throat culture and wound culture.
    ·         Perform phlebotomy.
    ·         Administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous, intradermal medication under the direct supervision of the medical provider.
    ·         Administer oral or rectal medications under the direct supervision of the medical provider. 
    ·         Clean the exam rooms between patients.  Anticipate the needs of the provider based on patient complaint and have supplies ready.
    ·         Restock medical supplies, monitor supply usage, and document on supply log for supplies needed.
    ·         Monitor and document temperature logs.
    ·         Keep the bathrooms properly stocked with paper products and soap.
    ·         Be a supportive team player for all co-workers.
    ·         Administer and read TB skin tests.
    ·         Apply splints
    ·         Insertion of IV
    ·         Answer patient questions after consultation with provider.
    ·         All other duties as assigned by the practice manager.
     
     
    2.      Medical Assistant- Administrative Duties
    ·         Follow up of abnormal findings after consultation with the provider.
    ·         Scheduling for outpatient diagnostic services outside of clinic.
    ·         Sort incoming faxes and allocate to appropriate department(s).
    ·         Obtaining preauthorization when deemed necessary.
    ·         Review and clear voice mail box.
    ·         Process and complete all employer, discharge, transfer, short term disability, FMLA and admittance forms. 
    ·         Maintenance of sample drug closet. Removing expired medications from sample closet prn. 
    ·         Responsible for assessing all reports with provider(s) to develop a care plan.
    ·         STAT reports should always be “priority”.
    ·         Monitor all laboratory/ diagnostic/hospital portals.
    ·         Work with patients to plan and monitor care.
    ·         Monitor patient progress in a timely manner, and facilitate changes as needed.
    ·         Monitor adherence to care plan.
    ·         Facilitate patient access to appropriate medical and specialty providers.
    ·         Educate patients and family/caregivers about relevant community resources.
    ·         Perform next day follow up phone calls to patients under the direction of the medical provider.
    ·         Knowledge of crash cart and contents. 
    ·         Perform monthly AED maintenance and document.
    Update patient chart in computer 

     
     
    EDUCATION: High School Diploma. Medical Assistant degree/ certificate. A state and certification to practice and perform radiology. College courses in Medical Terminology.
     
    JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have an active basic life support certification and must always be kept up to date. Bilingual preferred. 
     
     WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work hours are rotational shifts from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and rotational weekend and holiday shifts.
    Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
