Little Stars- Birth to School Parent Autism Navigator

General Description:

The Birth to School Parent Autism Navigator serves as the vital link between the school district, students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or developmental delays, and their families. The primary objective of this role is to empower parents with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to support their child''s educational and behavioral growth at home.

This individual will facilitate effective communication between home and school, translate complex special education processes (IEPs) for families, and provide coaching on evidence-based strategies to ensure consistency across environments.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum of [3-5] years of professional experience working specifically with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.

• Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), IEP processes, and evidence-based practices for Autism (e.g., ABA, TEACCH, Social Thinking).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

• Autism Spectrum Disorder Certificate.

• Licensed Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

• Awareness of autism and its manifestations, willingness to work with students on the autism spectrum

• Willingness to work in a flexible, collaborative, and dynamic school setting

• Ability to serve as a liaison between Lakeland STAR and the elementary schools in the consortium, fostering communication and coordination

Lakeland STAR is home to two of the Lakeland area''s public charter schools. Lakeland STAR School / Academy serves 6th grade through age 21.
