A San Francisco-based litigation firm is seeking a Temp‑To‑Hire Litigation Secretary for its San Francisco office. This full‑time, fully onsite position provides comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling complex civil litigation matters. The role is ideal for a proactive, detail‑oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast‑paced law firm environment, has a strong understanding of litigation procedures and deadlines, and enjoys being an integral part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities:
Attorney and Litigation Support
Provide day‑to‑day administrative and litigation support to attorneys across active civil litigation matters
Assist with litigation tasks requiring knowledge of state and federal court rules, filing procedures, and attorney workflow management
Document Preparation and Filing
Prepare, format, revise, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
Apply track changes, redlines, styles, and formatting while ensuring accuracy and consistency
Handle state and federal court filings and e‑filings in compliance with applicable rules and deadlines
Case and File Management
Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files
Assist with opening and closing matters and managing litigation documentation
Scheduling and Calendar Management
Manage litigation calendars, deadlines, and docketing requirements
Schedule and coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings
Client and Court Communication
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors
Coordinate court reporters, service providers, and scheduling logistics
Special Projects and Administrative Support
Assist with discovery preparation, including document organization and production
Prepare materials for hearings and trial, including binders and exhibits
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, scanning, filing, and document management
Qualifications:
Must be available for TEMP‑TO‑HIRE job positions
2+ years of experience as a Litigation Secretary or Litigation Legal Assistant
Prior experience in a civil litigation law firm required
Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and deadlines
Experience with state and federal court e‑filings
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Excellent communication, proofreading, and time‑management skills
Ability to work independently while also contributing as a team member
Must be able to work fully onsite in San Francisco
