About the Role
Our client, a law firm in Philadelphia, is looking for a Civil Litigation Paralegal to join their team. Knowledge of the Philadelphia court rules and filing procedures is a must. Knowledge/experience with New Jersey filing procedures is a plus. They are a firm that prizes learning, integrity, loyalty and growth comprised of good people doing good work for the injured. Litigation is a necessary part of making sure we provide the best service to our clients, protect their interests, and achieve results.
A successful candidate will provide assistance during all phases of litigation, from legal intake, pre-suit investigation, to trial preparation and trial, along with assisting in general team tasks such as calendaring, filing, and drafting and sending correspondence.
Responsibilities
Conducting investigations, legal research, and case assessments
Filing of pleadings, motions, and various court documents
Maintaining organized and indexed files
Assisting with preparation of discovery responses
Assisting with expert retention and related communications
Backing up legal assistant duties including calendaring, correspondence, and filing as necessary
Qualifications
High energy, intelligence, and integrity
Proven working experience as a legal assistant or litigation paralegal with 2+ years of experience
Applicable PA and Philadelphia knowledge of motions, discovery, documentation, court rules, procedures, and practices; NJ knowledge is a plus
Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines
Extensive knowledge of service procedures
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Applicable computer program familiarity or expertise including Word, Excel, PDF, etc.
Case management system knowledge
