Litigation Legal Assistant

Location: Del Mar, CA (Hybrid)
Compensation: Up to $110,000 annually, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-Time | Hybrid (Minimum 4 Days In Office)

About the Opportunity

A highly respected law firm in Del Mar is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys within its Business Trial and Labor & Employment practice groups. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional work product.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of litigation experience, a strong understanding of state and federal court procedures, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting a busy team of attorneys.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, format, proofread, edit, and manage legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence.
• Coordinate and schedule depositions, court appearances, hearings, client meetings, travel arrangements, and attorney calendars.
• Manage litigation deadlines and maintain accurate calendaring systems.
• Assist with document production, e-discovery, and case file organization.
• Prepare filings in state, federal, and appellate courts while ensuring compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines.
• Conduct conflict checks and assist with new matter intake procedures.
• Prepare engagement letters and maintain client and matter documentation.
• Work closely with attorneys and paralegals to ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments.
• Review all work product for accuracy, consistency, spelling, grammar, and firm standards before submission or filing.
• Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and internal team members.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 5 years of litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm environment.
• Strong knowledge of California Superior Court, Federal Court, and appellate court rules and procedures.
• Experience with document productions and e-discovery processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities in a high-volume practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in:

  • Document Management Systems
• Ability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends when business needs require.

Preferred

• Labor & Employment litigation experience.
• Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a business litigation practice.
• Bachelor's degree or some college coursework.
• Secretarial certification or ABA-approved paralegal certification.
• Notary Public commission.
• Experience with NetDocuments (NetDocs) or similar document management systems.
