Job Summary: Seeking experienced Litigation Attorneys knowledgeable in medical malpractice to manage cases from investigation through preparation, excluding trial/arbitration presentation. The role involves developing effective case strategies and supporting claims defense.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop discovery and investigation strategies.

  • Coordinate case defense preparation with Claims Specialists.

  • Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and responses to discovery requests.

  • Attend court appearances as necessary.

  • Prepare lawsuits for trial or arbitration.

  • Provide mentorship and share legal knowledge with attorney colleagues.

  • Ensure cost-effective case management and defense work.

  • Respond promptly to "hotline " inquiries from the Claims Department.

  • Assist trial attorneys with litigation reporting and case work-up at all stages.

  • Comply with Defense Attorney Guidelines.

  • Represent physicians at depositions in "Depo-only cases as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • J.D. degree required.

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

  • Minimum 3-6 years of medical malpractice litigation experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.

  • Strong mentoring and team-building skills with staff counsel.
