About the Role
This is a litigation associate role at a 21-lawyer boutique firm specializing in media, entertainment, technology, and intellectual property law. The firm handles cutting-edge copyright, trademark, First Amendment, and newsgathering matters across federal and state courts and arbitrations, and advises media clients on pre-publication and pre-broadcast legal risk on a rolling basis. It is a high-responsibility seat where you will be working directly with partners and clients on fast-moving, high-stakes matters from day one.

The ideal candidate is a sharp, driven litigator with 3 to 4 years of experience and a genuine interest in media law, creative industries, and IP. You write and research at a high level, you are comfortable managing multiple matters simultaneously, and you want real client contact and courtroom exposure rather than a back-seat role. A demonstrated connection to media law, culture, or the creative industries will matter here.

Key Responsibilities
1. Support litigation matters end to end, from inception through resolution, across federal and state courts and arbitrations
2. Conduct pre-publication and pre-broadcast clearance reviews, identifying legal risks and advising media clients on a weekly basis
3. Draft dispositive motions, briefs, and other advocacy-driven submissions grounded in sophisticated legal research
4. Manage discovery strategy, document review, deposition preparation, and motion practice
5. Collaborate directly with partners and clients to develop and execute case strategy
6. Appear in court and participate in oral arguments as matters develop
7. Advise on copyright, trademark, First Amendment, and newsgathering issues across a varied client base

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3 to 4 years of litigation experience with a strong record of high-quality legal research and writing
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to the New York bar or eligible for admission
  • Demonstrated interest in media law, First Amendment, copyright, trademark, or IP litigation
  • Based in or willing to commute regularly to downtown New York City
  • Comfortable working a fast-paced, multi-matter workload
  • Proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Microsoft Office
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience or coursework in media law, entertainment law, or intellectual property
  • Exposure to pre-publication or pre-broadcast clearance work
  • Experience with court appearances or oral argument at any level
