A boutique 8 attorney Atlanta civil-defense firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with approximately 2–7 years of experience to join its growing litigation practice.

This is a strong opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, direct exposure to experienced trial lawyers and the ability to work across a broad range of sophisticated insurance-defense and general-liability matters.

The firm represents businesses, insurers and individual clients in complex civil litigation in both state and federal courts. Its practice spans matters involving automobile and trucking liability, aviation, premises liability, construction, professional liability, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, products liability, insurance disputes and other general civil-defense matters.

Job Details

Responsibilities

The associate will have the opportunity to handle matters through multiple stages of litigation, including:

Managing an active civil-litigation caseload
Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs and discovery
Taking and defending depositions
Conducting fact and legal research
Reviewing medical records, expert materials and damages documentation
Preparing witnesses and experts
Attending hearings, mediations and court appearances
Working directly with clients, insurers and opposing counsel
Assisting with trial preparation and, depending on experience, gaining increased trial responsibility
Developing litigation strategy alongside partners and senior attorneys

Qualifications
2–7 years of litigation experience preferred
Georgia Bar admission required or ability to become admitted promptly
Prior insurance defense, general liability or civil-defense litigation experience strongly preferred
Experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice and case management
Strong legal writing and analytical skills
Ability to manage matters independently while working collaboratively with partners and clients
Trial, hearing or substantive courtroom experience is a plus
