Liquid Asphalt Accounting Manager

Position Overview

The Liquid Accounting Manager will perform general accounting duties for the Liquid Asphalt reporting group to ensure transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Manage and support Liquid accounting clerks (review and approve all their batches and all liquid ac invoices related to batches)
  • Ensure Liquid accounting clerks perform the timely weekly check run process and the month-end task.
  • Interview and train new accounting clerks as needed for the liquid department
  • Cross-train on Inventory accounting task, including production and ticket entry
  • Fixed Asset set up forms and subledger management  
  • Support Accounts Payable with company coding for invoices that don’t have details (e.g. contact company employees to track who purchased them) 
  • Manage coordination with operations to identify any new leases and perform monthly lease accounting via CoStar system, including booking monthly journal entries
  • Pull support and record monthly statistics via a journal entry for supporting items including backlog, fixed asset stats, energy stats, etc. 
  • Review AP subledgers and Delivery due for purchase orders that must be received and received not invoiced for duplicate expense items 
  • Support internal and external audits for random requests 
  • Keep up with monthly accruals including energy, haul, legal, property tax, etc 
  • Making misc. journal entries required to clean up job cost entries
  • Keep up with monthly reporting package for management and operations and answer detailed questions from operations about monthly costs 
  • Run all the SOX reports for the month, so they are ready to sign off 
  • Perform a headquarters batch review to confirm all batches are saved on the shared drive and reviewed
  • Any miscellaneous items from an accounting perspective that need to be done are handled by this position 
  • Supporting the Region Accounting team by assisting with Ad-Hoc projects.

Education / Experience

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar field
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting within the Construction, Industrial Services or Rental Industry
  • Successful completion of Budget and Forecast cycle preferred

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 + years old
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public always
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision
  • Travel in Texas will be required 1-2 days per month

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Technology savvy with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills verbally and written
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
