    Description


    A technology organization supporting a high-visibility mission environment is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator/Engineer to administer and troubleshoot a CentOS/RHEL and Kubernetes-based infrastructure.

    This hands-on position spans Linux hosts, Kubernetes clusters, containers, networking, storage, authentication, security controls, and physical infrastructure. The engineer will maintain the stability of an established production environment while partnering with software-development and engineering teams as the underlying system evolves into a more standardized product.

    This is a broad infrastructure role. Candidates must be comfortable investigating problems across multiple technical layers rather than focusing exclusively on cloud architecture, Kubernetes configuration, or application development.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Administer and support enterprise CentOS and RHEL systems
    • Operate and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads
    • Diagnose issues across Linux hosts, containers, applications, networks, and storage
    • Monitor system availability, performance, capacity, and reliability
    • Configure and maintain authentication and access controls
    • Support physical servers and virtualized infrastructure
    • Perform system patching, upgrades, hardening, and configuration changes
    • Develop Bash scripts to automate administrative and operational tasks
    • Use configuration-management tools to maintain consistent environments
    • Troubleshoot networking and storage dependencies
    • Support security-compliance and remediation activities
    • Work with key-management and encryption technologies
    • Partner with software developers and systems engineers
    • Document configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes
    • Support the continued standardization and productization of the mission platform
    • Participate in coverage between 6: 00 AM and 6: 00 PM, with a preferred 10: 00 AM 6: 00 PM schedule

    Role Requirements:
    • At least 10 years of Linux systems-administration or systems-engineering experience
    • Deep hands-on CentOS and RHEL administration
    • Production Kubernetes experience
    • Strong Kubernetes operational and troubleshooting skills
    • Strong container fundamentals
    • Bash scripting
    • Current Security+ certification
    • Extensive production-infrastructure troubleshooting
    • Networking and storage knowledge
    • Authentication and security-compliance experience
    • Physical-server administration
    • Ability to diagnose issues across multiple infrastructure layers
    • Strong collaboration with software and engineering teams
    • Ability to work onsite in Annapolis five days per week
    • Ability to support the required daytime coverage schedule

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
    • High Side or classified-networking experience
    • Current or recently held SYS3 PRIVAC
    • Red Hat certification
    • Python
    • Ansible
    • Salt
    • VMware
    • DevOps or Agile experience
    • Key-management and encryption technologies
    • Advanced network or storage administration
    • Experience supporting mission-critical product environment
