Position Overview

Support the Department of Defense (DoD) as a Linux Automation Administrator on a highly talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team. Contribute to cyber investigations, digital forensics, cyber threat analysis, and mission support by applying technical expertise, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities to complex cyber challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Linux System Administration

  • Provision, manage, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu servers across internet-connected and internet-disconnected networks.
  • Manage and configure connected services, including network adapters, storage, and firewalls.

Automation and Configuration

  • Develop, utilize, and maintain Ansible Playbooks to secure, patch, and configure Linux servers.

Kubernetes Administration

  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and the workloads deployed on the clusters.

Monitoring and Incident Response

  • Deploy, configure, and support monitoring capabilities to detect anomalous conditions or service disruptions.
  • Investigate service disruptions, provide root cause analysis reports, and implement additional steps to prevent subsequent issues.

Hardware and Software Deployment

  • Support deployments of new hardware, software applications, and appliances.

Schedule

  • Provide on-site coverage as part of the system administration team from 0600-1800 Monday-Friday, with schedules coordinated among team members to ensure coverage.
  • Work during core hours of 0930-1430 Monday-Friday, with attendance outside this window as needed to support meetings, deployments, and team activities.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience [Required].
  • A degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or Cybersecurity is highly desired.
  • An additional 4 years of relevant experience or specialized training may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree [Required].

Experience

  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree [Required].

Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills [Required].
  • Expertise with Configuration as Code (CaC) tooling; Ansible preferred [Required].
  • Expertise managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu systems in disconnected environments [Required].

Certifications

  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification [Required].

Clearance

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility [Required].

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling; Terraform preferred.
  • Experience administering Kubernetes clusters and services.
  • Experience managing secure computing environments to adhere to DISA STIGs and NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Experience monitoring system uptime and performance with tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and SolarWinds.
  • Experience providing detailed technical after-action reports with root cause analysis following outages or security incidents.
  • Familiarity with host-level networking, such as instance firewalls.
  • Familiarity with storage provider management, such as Network File Systems (NFS).
  • Familiarity with source code management tooling, such as GitHub or GitLab.
