Position Title: Linux and OpenShift Admin Patch Management Engineer
Location: Jersey City, NJ (Onsite)
Duration: Long Term Contract
 
Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in Linux Infrastructure Administration, OpenShift Platform Administration, Patch Management, or Vulnerability Remediation supporting large-scale enterprise environments.
Required Skills:
  • Expert-level Linux administration experience (RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu).
  • Strong OpenShift administration and platform support experience.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise patch management and automation tools (Ansible, Satellite, SCCM, Tanium, BigFix or equivalent).
  • Strong shell scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible).
  • Deep knowledge of Linux security, vulnerability remediation, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL Change, Incident, Problem, and Release Management processes.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
  • Red Hat OpenShift Administrator Certification
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • Security or Vulnerability Management certifications
Role and responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end patch management and vulnerability remediation lifecycle for Linux servers and OpenShift platforms across enterprise environments.
  • Responsible for patch assessment, testing, deployment, cluster maintenance, compliance reporting, automation, change management, and operational governance while ensuring platform stability, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead monthly, emergency, and zero-day patch deployments for Linux servers and OpenShift clusters.
  • Identify, assess, test, validate, and deploy security and infrastructure patches.
  • Perform pre- and post-patch health checks, compliance validation, troubleshooting, and rollback activities.
  • Manage patch deployment schedules, maintenance windows, and remediation tracking.
  • Support automation of patch deployment and post-patch validation processes.
  • Administer enterprise Linux environments and patch management infrastructure.
  • Perform Linux OS patching, manual updates, console management, and patch workflow monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot patch failures, system issues, and post-deployment incidents.
  • Support system hardening, security compliance, and vulnerability remediation initiatives.
  • Maintain operational documentation and deployment records.
  • Manage patching activities for OpenShift clusters using approved enterprise tools.
  • Identify cluster nodes requiring patching and validate patch compatibility with cluster configurations.
  • Execute cluster patch deployments during approved maintenance windows.
  • Monitor cluster health, workload availability, and deployment progress during patch cycles.
  • Conduct post-patching validation and coordinate application/platform verification with stakeholders.
  • Drive Change Management activities, deployment planning, approvals, and maintenance coordination.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Application, and Platform teams to minimize deployment risks.
  • Coordinate testing, production releases, rollback planning, and implementation reviews.
  • Participate in governance, audit, and compliance reviews.
  • Produce operational and executive patch compliance reports and dashboards.
  • Track remediation status, patch success rates, exceptions, vulnerabilities, and SLA compliance.
  • Maintain issue logs and monitor failed patch deployments through closure.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives across Linux and OpenShift operations.
