THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
The Polish Linguist will work with large amounts of Polish text and language data to help train and evaluate Text-to-Speech (TTS) models for the Polish (pl-PL) locale. Their work may include:
- Text processing and preparation: Reviewing, cleaning, organizing, and preparing Polish-language text for model training and evaluation.
- Creating test and evaluation sets: Developing and refining Polish-language datasets used to evaluate how accurately and naturally models synthesize speech.
- Data analysis: Analyzing language data and model outputs to identify errors, patterns, and opportunities to improve model performance.
- Audio and speech evaluation: Listening to Polish audio and reviewing transcriptions to evaluate pronunciation, naturalness, fluency, and linguistic accuracy.
- Text normalization and Regex: Using regular expressions to create and refine text normalization rules for Polish, including how numbers, dates, abbreviations, symbols, and other written forms should be represented in speech.
- Natural Language Processing and scripting: Using Python or other tools to process large datasets, automate tasks, prepare test sets, or analyze model results.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Native-level Polish (pl-PL) fluency, with a strong understanding of how Polish is naturally written and spoken in Poland.
- Deep knowledge of Polish culture and linguistic nuances, including pronunciation, regional and cultural references, names, places, and commonly used expressions.
- Strong linguistics background, with knowledge of areas such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, or related language disciplines.
- Degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to evaluate Polish pronunciation and speech naturalness and identify linguistic or pronunciation errors in synthesized speech.
- Familiarity with regular expressions (Regex) and their use in text processing or normalization.
- Comfort using LLMs or AI tools to support linguistic, data, or evaluation work efficiently.
- Basic familiarity with Git/version control, including working with or reviewing changes.
- Basic Python knowledge, with the ability to understand, modify, or work with simple scripts.
