Description

The purpose of this job is to operate light to medium equipment and perform manual labor in the maintenance and operation of the County Airport; to maintain assigned equipment; to provide professional and courteous customer service and to perform other work as required. This position also includes performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work and requires independent thinking and adherence to procedure and process.

This position works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Monitors daily airport activities to ensure/enforce compliance with airport guidelines, operating rules, and standards.
  • Performs daily inspections of the facilities including the terminal, hangars, fueling area and grounds.
  • Inspect fuel shipments at time of delivery and inspects the fuel storage facility for quality purposes.
  • Maintains records on fuel deliveries and facility inspections as well as on fuel orders received.
  • Provides refueling services for aircraft which will require the lifting and/or moving of fuel hoses and climbing to reach the fueling points of various aircraft.
  • Ensures appropriate fuel is used for refueling.
  • Operates a "tug" to tow aircraft to various locations on airport grounds.
  • Monitors the Unicom radio and provides airport advisories to inbound pilots.
  • Greets visitors arriving at the airport and coordinates rental car deliveries as needed.
  • Transports visitors to rental location as needed.
  • Presents rental vehicle contracts and assists customers with completion.
  • Obtains payment and receives vehicle and keys from customer to return to agency.
  • Answers questions and provides information and/or materials regarding flight training, local attractions, and directions.
  • Prepares, processes, copies, indexes, files, transmits and/or maintains various departmental documents.
  • Ensures the security and confidentiality of files as appropriate.
  • Collect fines and payments, issues receipts.
  • Maintain records, prepare forms, verify information and resolve routine problems.
  • Answer telephone and direct visitors to the appropriate location.
  • Responsible for the hard copy or electronic filing system within the office in terms of categorizing, classifying and organizing information and data.
  • May be required to perform general computation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college.

Four (4) years of air transportation or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Aircraft experience highly preferred.

Additional Requirements

Special Qualifications:

Must possess a valid state driver's license.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Employees must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays during emergencies or as requested. This is a safety sensitive position and employees holding this position have the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others. This position is subject to random drug testing.
