Kabuki Hawaii is looking for an
experienced Line Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
We are a busy local okazuya and are looking for someone with
previous professional kitchen experience, works quickly and cleanly, and can handle both food preparation and cooking.
This is a hands-on position. You will help prepare ingredients, cook menu items, keep food stocked during service, and make sure our food is prepared consistently according to Kabuki's established recipes and portions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for daily production
- Cut, portion, season, marinate, and organize meats, vegetables, and other ingredients
- Cook assigned menu items according to established recipes
- Fry, grill, sauté, boil, steam, and perform other cooking duties as assigned
- Maintain proper portion sizes and food consistency
- Prepare food in sufficient quantities for opening and throughout service
- Monitor food levels and communicate with other cooks when additional items are needed
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food
- Follow FIFO procedures
- Maintain proper food temperatures and food-safety standards
- Keep prep areas, cooking stations, equipment, and kitchen clean and organized
- Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries when needed
- Help reduce food waste and unnecessary overproduction
- Assist other cooks and kitchen staff during busy periods
- Complete cleaning and other kitchen duties as assigned
Requirements
Previous professional restaurant or commercial kitchen experience is required.

- Can follow established recipes and portion standards
- Works quickly without sacrificing food quality
- Is dependable and consistently arrives on time
- Can handle a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
- Keeps a clean and organized workstation
- Works well with other cooks and kitchen staff
- Can take direction from the Lead Cook and management
- Is available for early-morning shifts
- Has weekend availability
Experience preparing
local Hawaii food, Japanese food, okazuya, plate lunch, or other high-volume food production is a plus.
Physical Requirements
This position requires prolonged standing, frequent bending and reaching, working around hot cooking equipment, and lifting and carrying kitchen supplies and food products.
