Lift Director
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee crane, rigging, hoisting, and heavy lifting operations.
- Develop, review, and approve standard and critical lift plans.
- Review crane load charts, configurations, capacities, and operating conditions.
- Evaluate jobsite conditions, including ground stability, crane positioning, access, and lifting areas.
- Coordinate crane operators, riggers, signalpersons, ironworkers, Superintendents, and other field personnel.
- Conduct pre-lift and pre-task meetings to review lift plans, communication procedures, responsibilities, and potential hazards.
- Verify proper rigging equipment and procedures are used for each lift.
- Monitor lifting operations to ensure work is performed safely and according to the approved lift plan.
- Identify unsafe conditions and stop or modify lifting operations when necessary.
- Maintain required lift plans, inspection records, and other documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and project specifications.
- Work closely with Project Management, Operations, Safety, and field leadership.
- Support complex lifts, structural steel erection, heavy material placement, and other specialized lifting activities.
- Provide guidance and leadership to crane and rigging crews.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of crane and rigging experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Lift Director, Rigging Supervisor, or in a comparable supervisory role.
- NCCCO Lift Director Certification required.
- Strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, lift planning, and load charts.
- Experience with mobile and/or crawler cranes.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA crane and rigging requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret lift plans, load charts, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in underground utilities, heavy civil, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction preferred.
- Experience with Liebherr, Manitowoc, Link-Belt, or comparable crane equipment preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
- Must successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
