EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Lifeguard I & II Must be at least 16 years of age
Sr Lifeguard Must be at least 18 years of age
EXPERIENCE:
Lifeguard I Entry level
Lifeguard II 1 year of lifeguarding experience
Sr. Lifeguard minimum 1 year lifeguard experience with NEISD Aquatics
CERTIFICATION:
Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or obtain Lifeguard I & II)
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Responsible for in water teaching physical, social, learning, and emotional skills, values and attitudes to the students within the local Swim Program.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lifeguard the pool during adult lap swim, open swim, aquatic practices and competitions as well as aquatic facility rentals.
Operate cash register at the front desk when needed.
Ensure general safety, cleanliness, and appearance in and around the pool area.
Assist with the set up of activities/programs and events.
Teach swim lessons in accordance with Swim North East guidelines.
Communicate effectively with staff, athletes, spectators, administrators, and visitors, including enforcing facility rules.
Assists with certification training. (LIFEGUARD/ SR. LIFEGUARD only)
Serves as mentor to newer lifeguards. (SR LIFEGUARD only)
Maintains confidentiality of information.
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Warm, humid pool deck environment with noise and wet surfaces.
