Job Summary:

• Serve as lifeguard and swim assistant as needed for Community Education swim programs
• During open and lap swims, supervise and assist swimmers as needed including working in water as needed
• During swim classes, assist head instructor in conducting lessons, including working in water with swimmers
• Maintain safe pool deck and enforce safe swimming rules
• Operate handicap chair and lift as needed
• Respond to emergencies using appropriate first aid

Qualifications:

• Current American Red Cross certifications for lifeguarding, CPR, First aid, and AED
• Ability to work effectively with swimmers, parents, instructors, and other swim staff members
• Ability to handle handicap chair, lift and rescue equipment
• Experience as lifeguard or swim assistant preferred but not required

Working Condition: $12.50/hour- more dependent on experience. Add'l $1.00/hr with WSI; Hours vary

Candidates hired for this position will be employed through EduStaff, the educational staffing partner of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, and will be required to complete a separate Edustaff application and orientation once an employment offer is received. If you are a student you will not need to go through the edustaff process.
