    Title: LICENSURE AND RETENTION COORDINATOR

    Reports to: HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

    Terms of Employment: 12 MONTHS

    Salary: Teacher Pay Scale

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

    To manage, maintain, and plan for current and future licensure pathways for all teachers within the district while ensuring compliance with all state requirements and focusing on recruitment and retention of certified employees.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Manages licensure program and determines the type of license to be issued
    • Communicates with NCDPI Licensure Department with a focus on retention
    • Completes licensure processes for all licensure pathways
    • Oversees the district's Continuing Education Unit (CEU) process
    • Leads the district's recruitment and retention program
    • Audits, evaluates, and tracks documentation for teacher license renewal
    • Communicates with the Finance Department to address audit exception concerns due to licensure issues
    • Provides necessary training regarding licensure
    • Supports and strengthens the Beginning Teacher Program by monitoring and tracking testing, coursework, and other program requirements; assisting with classroom observations and feedback; and maintaining compliance with NCDPI requirements, with a focus on recruitment and retention.
    • Collaborates with colleges and universities to provide information regarding programs and coursework requirements
    • Advises teachers on licensure status and requirements with a retention focus
    • Processes applications for teaching license, renewals, and adding subjects to teaching license
    • Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources for Certified Employees

    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    • Holds active North Carolina Teacher License
    • Exhibits strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to gather and give detailed information and instructions
    • Ability to present information as required
    • Ability to gather and compile materials from a variety of sources
    • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, school-based employees, and other department employees

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
