Description

PIH Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for an 8-hour shift position based at PHP - Whittier, located at 14350 Whittier Blvd, Whittier, CA. This is a Full-Time/Regular, at-will position within PIH Health's Urology and PHP (Physician Health Partnership) departments. The LVN will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a dynamic , high patient volume , fast paced ambulatory medical office environment.

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse at PIH Health, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing both direct and indirect nursing care to patients who present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems. Working under the direction of a licensed practitioner, the LVN will utilize knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, ethics, and concepts to meet patient needs in the medical office setting. This role requires a high level of professionalism, clinical competency, and a genuine commitment to patient well-being.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Urology-PHP department, addressing urgent, emergent, and potential health concerns.
- Assessing patient health status, documenting findings accurately, and communicating relevant information to supervising practitioners.
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by the supervising physician or practitioner.

- Assisting providers with in office procedures.
- Performing minor in scope procedures such as : foley catheter changes, suprapubic tube changes and bladder treatments.

- Processing medication refill requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Educating patients and their families on health management, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Adhering to all infection control, safety, and regulatory standards within the medical office setting.
- Collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care.
- Supporting the overall operational efficiency of the medical office by assisting with administrative and clinical tasks as needed.

This position does not include per diem compensation. Compensation is an hourly paid basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Required Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and safety protocols
  • Solid understanding of nursing principles and best practices
  • Proficiency in patient and family teaching principles
  • Knowledge of computer practice management systems including Microsoft Office programs and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Ability to process medication refill requests accurately and efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish (helpful but not required)
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced medical office environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and professional ethics


Required Experience
  • Current and valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license Required
  • Evidence of continuing education in nursing or a related healthcare field Required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Card Required
  • Experience in direct nursing care within a medical office setting Preferred
  • Experience working in Urological medical office setting Preferred 
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and practice management software
  • Prior experience in a Urology or physician health partnership (PHP) clinical environment Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to provide nursing care to patients presenting with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems
