Position Summary:Functions as a member of the clinical team providing focused care to assigned patients with predictable healthcare needs. Aims to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.Position Key Accountabilities:Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.Directed practice under supervision of registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, physician assistant, physician, dentist or podiatrist.Functions under own license providing technical component of care such as medication administration and clinical procedures.Collects data and performs focused patient assessments.Participates in the plan of care.Implements appropriate plan of care within scope of practice.Solicits orders or initiates standing orders for prescription refills and implements standing delegation orders as necessary for specific population management.Implements teaching plans for patients with well-defined health problems and well-defined learning needs.Provides direct basic care to assigned patients.Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up.Performs all functions related to clinic and patient flow to include clinic preparation, supply stocking, EHR review, preparation for and assistance with procedures, scheduling appointments.May manage, evaluate, and coordinate the vocational nursing personnel and the direction of services for optimum patient care.May manage Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.Adheres to standards of practice for vocational nurses.Performs other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:NoneLicensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) requiredMinimum Education:Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s)Minimum Experience:2 years of experience required Supervisory experience preferred Previous research experience for LVNs working in research environment preferredPhysical Requirements:Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
