Licensed Vocational Nurse I, Practice Plan - Interventional Radiology Clinic

The individual will play a key role in coordinating clinic workflow, including rooming patients, assisting with chart preparation, supporting front-desk activities as needed, obtaining authorizations and insurance benefits, assisting with radiology procedures, coordinating follow-up care, and serving as a liaison among patients, providers, and external partner hospitals. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

UTHealth Houston's Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging Department is hiring a full-time LVN I! This role will be based in the Texas Medical Center at our Interventional Radiology Clinic. The LVN will support the daily operations of the practice, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekends or call responsibilities. The individual will play a key role in coordinating clinic workflow, including rooming patients, assisting with chart preparation, supporting front-desk activities as needed, obtaining authorizations and insurance benefits, assisting with radiology procedures, coordinating follow-up care, and serving as a liaison among patients, providers, and external partner hospitals.

Position Summary:

Functions as a member of the clinical team, providing focused care to assigned patients with predictable healthcare needs. Aims to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, and efficient.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Directed practice under supervision of registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, physician assistant, physician, dentist or podiatrist.
• Functions under own license providing technical component of care such as medication administration and clinical procedures.
• Collects data and performs focused patient assessments.
• Participates in the plan of care.
• Implements appropriate aspects of care within scope of practice.
• Solicits orders or initiates standing orders for prescription refills and implements standing delegation orders as necessary for specific patient population management.
• Implements teaching plans for patients with well-defined health problems and well-defined learning needs.
• Provides direct basic care to assigned patients.
• Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up.
• Performs all functions related to clinic and patient flow to include clinic preparation, supply stocking, EHR review, preparation for and assistance with procedures, scheduling appointments. Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Adheres to standards of practice for vocational nurses.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s)

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
