Licensed Traveling Fire Alarm Technician – Iowa
$30–$45/hr | Full-Time | Long-Term Travel

We’re looking for an experienced Iowa-licensed Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. This is a traveling position supporting commercial fire alarm installation, service, testing, troubleshooting, and upgrades on projects throughout Iowa and other states.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on fire alarm experience, understands NFPA standards, and is comfortable with long-term travel and extended assignments.
What You’ll Do
  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and upgrade commercial fire alarm systems
  • Program and configure fire alarm control panels
  • Install and terminate fire alarm devices, sensors, notification appliances, and low-voltage cabling
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and site plans
  • Run, pull, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling
  • Perform system testing, inspections, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure work complies with NFPA 70, NFPA 72, electrical codes, and applicable fire codes
  • Identify and resolve system faults and installation issues
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and in crawlspaces, attics, and other confined areas as needed
  • Operate boom lifts and scissor lifts when required
  • Work alongside electricians, project managers, inspectors, and other trades to keep projects on schedule
What You Need
  • Current Iowa Fire Alarm / Life Safety license — Required
  • 3+ years of commercial fire alarm experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72
  • Experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing fire alarm systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
  • Experience with fire alarm control panels and system programming
  • Low-voltage cabling and termination experience
  • Burglar alarm, access control, CCTV, or other low-voltage experience is a plus
  • Boom lift and scissor lift experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation and basic hand tools
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods and work long-term assignments

  • Travel throughout Iowa and other states as project needs require
  • Long-term travel assignments available
  • Lodging provided
  • Per diem available
  • Mileage and/or drive time reimbursement based on company policy
  • Travel home between extended assignments may be provided
  • Consistent full-time work with opportunities for overtime

  • $30–$45/hour, based on experience, licensing, and qualifications
