    Description

    Provides group, individual, and family therapy and counseling services in school- and community-based settings to youth and adolescents and their families who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, and school difficulties, family discord, truancy, poor peer choices, and other issues. Conceptualizes and analyzes issues presented by the family; prepares intake reports, psychosocial summaries, genograms, treatment plans; maintains case notes using a computerized database; participates as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Interacts with schools, social service agencies, and other professionals to provide client services as needed and to educate the public on Youth/Family Counseling services and the Youth Services Department.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

    • A Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience with individual, family, and group counseling or psychotherapy for children/adolescents.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

    Qualified applicants MUST possess the following at time of application:

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • Experience performing crisis/risk assessments (must specify on application),
    • Experience utilizing a trauma-informed approach such as the Sanctuary Model,
    • Knowledge of education, legal, and local child and family resources welfare system (must specify on application), and
    • Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
