    Position Summary

    A leading civil engineering firm is seeking an experienced Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead survey operations supporting state DOT and municipal roadway projects.

    This leadership role oversees both field and office teams, manages project delivery, ensures quality assurance and regulatory compliance, and builds strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

    The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing transportation-related survey projects, directing multiple field crews, and delivering accurate survey documentation in a fast-paced engineering environment.



    Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct and manage two or more field survey crews

    • Assemble field data and perform calculations for survey deliverables

    • Prepare plats, boundary surveys, and legal descriptions

    • Maintain QA/QC compliance for all survey deliverables

    • Manage project schedules, budgets, and invoicing

    • Serve as the primary client point of contact

    • Represent the organization at project meetings and industry events

    • Mentor survey staff and conduct performance evaluations

    • Support proposal development and pursuit strategies for new survey opportunities

    Required Qualifications

    • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license

    • 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience

    • Experience with DOT, roadway, or transportation infrastructure projects

    • Proficiency with one or more of the following:

      • MicroStation

      • OpenRoads

      • AutoCAD Civil 3D

    • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying regulations

    • Valid driver’s license

    • Ability to pass a standard 7-year background screening

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Multistate PLS licensure

    • Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)

    • Familiarity with aerial surveying, LiDAR, or sUAS technologies

    • Experience working with transportation agencies or public infrastructure projects

    Work Environment

    • Typical work week: 45–50 hours

    • Combination of office leadership and field oversight

    • Collaborative environment supporting large-scale transportation projects
