Duties

REPORTS TO
The school health aide reports to the Activity Director or his/her designee
SUPERVISES
All designated nurses and students
JOB GOAL
Exercise a high degree of initiative and professional judgment in providing school
nursing services while working within the established framework of the federal and state
regulations and also local school district policies. In addition, you will oversee the
operation of district nurses, and providing leadership and supervision for the health aid
department.
Major Duties

Coordinate all district health services and programs
Arrange for CPR recertification program for all nurses
Coordinate the in service training for nurses
Coordinate the training for newly hired and substitute nurses
Coordinate the Blood Pathogens program
Schedule and conduct meetings with nursing staff
Order district-wide nursing supplies
Order supplies, materials and equipment
Consult with physicians as needed
Maintain the health services procedure manual, incorporating all new state
recommendations and mandates
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Certificate of Child Health
education students' health examinations and record necessary information
from the health examination to the child's permanent cumulative folder
Review all new students' health examinations entering the school district
Identify students in special education with no grade assignment who need
a physical examination as mandated by law
Illinois State Board of Education
prescribed in Section 122, 27-28.1 of the School Code of Illinois
Notify appropriate principals of the students' immunity status
Compile immunity data on all students and report to the Illinois State
Board of Education
Record all immunizations on each student's cumulative record
Maintain a list of students for each school who are not properly immunized
against the following diseases:
a. Measles e. Diphtheria
b. Rubella f. Tetanus
c. Mumps g. Pertussis
d. Polio
Monitor students' progress with immunization schedule
Monitor and notify parents when boosters are needed
Enter students health records in skyward
Member of Concussion Team
School contact leader for the concussion team
Confirm all sports physicals are current.
Organize onsite health and sports physicals
Responsible for creating and maintaining school concussion procedures
Responsible for keeping office visit log
B. Assessment
students in regard to their health needs and problems
of records
the pupil's health status when under a physician's care
children (both physical and dental), and assists in providing a
standardized method of recording these findings

Plans with parents for improving the health of school children and youth

and the relationship of the nurse to other faculty members and community

Qualifications
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Bachelor of Science in Nursing
B. Certification in audiometry
C. Certification in visual screening
D. State of Illinois licensed Registered Nurse
E. CPR/AED Certification
F. State of Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse and BLS certification
Salary/Benefits
Starting: 40,000-50,000 USD per year
