    Summary
    The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Student Support Assistant provides nursing and direct student support
    services within an educational environment. This position is responsible for attending to student health needs and
    records, medication administration, nursing documentation, and other nursing functions within the LPN scope of
    practice and under appropriate clinical direction. The position also supports students and classroom staff by
    promoting a safe environment, assisting with daily activities, academic programming and personal care needs,
    monitoring student behavior, supporting crisis management, and maintaining appropriate supervision and
    professional boundaries.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Licensed Practical Nurse Responsibilities
    • Attend to nursing-related needs and records for students, including immunization records, height, weight,
    vision, and other applicable health information.
    • Administer medications in accordance with applicable nursing standards, physician orders, company
    policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain accurate student health records, including chart updates, parent contacts, physician contacts, and
    other required nursing documentation.
    • Seek supervision and direction from the Program Director regarding nursing responsibilities and student
    care.
    • Complete nursing assessments.
    • Support transfers, discharges, treatment plans, progress notes, medication reconciliation, medication
    administration, and vital sign monitoring within the scope of the position and under appropriate clinical
    direction.

    • Provide health-related education as assigned.
    • Report unusual occurrences promptly to the and/or Program Director.
    • Attend and actively participate in departmental staff meetings.
    • Maintain medical equipment in proper working order.
    • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
    Student Support Assistant Responsibilities
    • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.
    • Assist with appropriate crisis management techniques and complete required documentation and forms.
    • Perform Personal Care Aide duties, including assistance with toileting and grooming activities when
    necessary.
    • Assist with activities designed by the teacher and/or Assistant Teacher as part of the daily classroom routine.
    • Communicate student concerns, classroom issues, and other relevant information to the teacher and/or
    Assistant Teacher.
    • Observe student conduct and document behavioral observations on applicable data collection forms as
    directed.
    • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and staff.
    • Utilize classroom and office equipment, including copiers, laminators, and computers.
    • Drive a van as required to support program and student needs.
    • Monitor students appropriately and ensure students are not left unsupervised.
    • Assist with other classroom and student needs as assigned.

    • Collaborate appropriately with nursing, educational, clinical, and program staff to support student needs.
    • Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information.
    • Completion of all required trainings as designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities.

    Required Qualifications
    Licensure, Education, & Experience
    • HS diploma/GED preferred.
    • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice required.
    • Valid driver's license required.

    Physical Demands
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is
    regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to operate computers, medical equipment, classroom equipment,
    and technology, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, stoop,
    kneel, crouch, or twist. The position requires the physical ability to provide direct student support and Personal
    Care Aide assistance, including assistance with toileting and grooming activities as necessary. The employee may
    occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to safely perform physical activities necessary to
    support students in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
    Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
    perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


    Work Environment
    This position primarily operates in an educational and behavioral healthcare environment and requires regular
    interaction with students, teachers, educational support staff, nursing and clinical personnel, parents/guardians,
    physicians, and school district representatives.
    The position includes both nursing and classroom responsibilities and may involve exposure to communicable
    illnesses, bodily fluids, behavioral health concerns, crisis situations, and emotionally sensitive circumstances. The
    employee may operate a van and travel locally in support of student and program needs. Appropriate infectioncontrol,
    safety, confidentiality, and crisis-management practices must be followed at all times.
