Lay out, assemble and install wiring in University buildings in accordance with blueprints and NEC. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, appliances, systems, facilities, and related electrical controls and devices.
Inspect and certify work is in compliance with state and local electrical codes.
Plan, estimate and commission new installations or renovations of electrical systems or equipment.
Assist in the training of new personnel.
Calculate power requirements for electrical systems (conductors, protective devices, physical protection) Service batteries (lead acid, Nicad, Lead Calcium)
Troubleshoot motors, motor control circuits, across the line starters, reduce voltage starters (auto transformer, resister), reversing starters, and electrical systems in hazardous locations, battery banks and battery chargers.
Inspect and maintain power conditioners. Repair/replace electrical appliances in general and electronic facilities.
Troubleshoot battery banks, battery chargers, power conditioners.
Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair most types of electrical systems and equipment. Interpret plans, sketches, wiring diagrams, and specifications; identify all electrical terms and symbols.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Inside and outside; exposed to heat, cold, humidity, rain, etc.
May work on and around slippery surfaces such as construction sites after is has rained.
Subject to working from ladders or on floors with no surrounding walls, etc., 12 feet or more above ground level.
Subject to working near moving machinery, power tools, and vehicles in motion.
Exposed to steady and loud noise from machinery and equipment.
