    Senior Land Surveyor – DOT & SUE Operations

    Lead Surveying Operations for Large-Scale Transportation & Infrastructure Projects

    A growing civil engineering firm is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor to oversee regional survey operations supporting transportation and municipal infrastructure projects. This senior-level role combines leadership, technical expertise, and business development, offering long-term stability and top-tier benefits through an employee-owned model.

    What You'll Do
    • Manage and schedule multiple survey and SUE crews across regional offices for DOT and municipal projects.
    • Ensure QA/QC standards, safety compliance, budgets, and schedules are met across all survey deliverables.
    • Collaborate with state DOTs and local municipalities on roadway and utility corridor mapping.
    • Support proposal development and client relationships to expand regional project opportunities.
    • Mentor, coach, and train staff to strengthen technical capabilities and develop future leaders.
    What We're Looking For

    Required:

    • PLS license in the hiring state or ability to obtain within 6 months (exam fees covered).
    • 12+ years of surveying experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
    • Extensive DOT/municipal project background with familiarity in roadway and utility corridor surveys.
    • Knowledge of QA/QC protocols, safety regulations, and risk management practices.
    • Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Civil 3D (supervisory-level knowledge acceptable).
    • Demonstrated career stability with long-term roles and progression.

    Preferred:

    • Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) expertise and utility locating experience.
    • Proposal pricing/scoping experience for DOT or municipal projects.
    • Exposure to LiDAR, aerial mapping, or sUAS technologies.
    • Multi-state licensure or willingness to pursue additional states.
