Description

Matrix Providers is hiring a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, supporting the National Intrepid Center of Excellence. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides direct behavioral health services, case management, patient and family education, and interdisciplinary support for adult patients. This role includes both clinical care and participation in research and educational activities related to moral injury and behavioral health. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Research, National Intrepid Center of Excellence, and may be eligible for situational telework with supervisor approval.

  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • Compensation: This is a hourly position, paid bi-weekly.
    • $50.98-$53.66/ hour

    • 75% Clinical care

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB).
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice independently as a Social Worker without clinical supervision.
  • Certification: Current certification in one of the following:
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
    • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course
    • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
    • Equivalent certification
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of independent clinical social work experience providing mental health counseling, therapy, and intervention services to adults.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience with:
  • Military health systems
  • Combat and deployment-related issues
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder
  • Disaster-related behavioral health care

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to teach patients effective self-care practices and motivate patients and family members to support recovery and healing.
  • Knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care across the patient population, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and manage a demanding caseload, including timely documentation and referrals.
  • Must meet all required security screenings and background checks to work at WRNMMC and NICoE.
  • Must continuously comply with all organizational security requirements and appropriately handle sensitive and privileged information in strict accordance with hospital policy.
  • Must be aware of the unique considerations involved in caring for special patient populations, including:
    • Wounded Warriors
    • Members of Congress
    • The President and Presidential appointees
    • U.S. Government executives with special security needs and clearances
    • Veterans and U.S. Service Members

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The contracted LCSW shall provide services in compliance with Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) standing orders, established protocols, and applicable Joint Commission guidelines. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in training on evidence-based interventions for moral injury, including:
  • Building Spiritual Strength
  • Impact of Killing
  • Trauma-Informed Guilt Reduction
  • Assist in developing educational materials for clinicians and patients related to moral injury.
  • Provide evidence-based:
    • Individual psychotherapy
    • Family therapy
    • Group psychotherapy
    • Couples therapy
  • Conduct screenings, appointment scheduling, clinical assessments, treatment planning, case management, consultation, referrals, and patient education.
  • Deliver clinical interventions in person or remotely via telehealth across the Defense Intrepid Network for TBI and Brain Health.
  • Assess and address complex social, economic, and psychosocial issues affecting service members and their families during outpatient care, inpatient care, or medical discharge evaluation.
  • Provide direct mental health services, including screening, assessment, treatment, referral, consultation, and education, in accordance with DoD Behavioral Health Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial evaluations and provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis counseling, for individuals, groups, and families.
  • Evaluate individual and family systems, including functioning at work, within the family, and in daily living routines, and identify needs for continued support, treatment, and resources.
  • Serve as a referral resource and subject matter expert for mental health-related programs to MTF staff, primary care clinics, and other on-post medical settings.
  • Provide services to high-risk populations, including:
  • Service members pending medical discharge due to physical or behavioral health conditions
  • Service members wounded in the line of duty
  • Families of service members killed in action
  • Coordinate continuity of care for military members and patients relocating outside the local area, including transferring to receiving mental health case management resources as appropriate.
  • Advocate for military members and patients by helping them navigate health care systems and obtain appropriate referrals and services.
  • Communicate and coordinate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, prevention specialists, family members, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist patients with accessing resources related to financial benefits, housing, and required paperwork.
  • Maintain individual workload accountability in accordance with clinic, MTF, and program requirements.
  • Participate in clinical research and program evaluation related to moral injury and behavioral health conditions.
