Library Specialist, Spanish Speaker (Bilingual)Part-time, 30 hours Build community and inspire learning at Sheridan Library.Do you enjoy making people feel welcome and helping them find what they need? Do you thrive in a lively environment where no two interactions are exactly alike?Sheridan Library is seeking a part-time bilingual Library Specialist who is passionate about serving others and creating positive experiences for patrons. In this role, you will help visitors of all ages access resources, technology, and programs while building meaningful connections that strengthen our community and make the library a place where everyone feels they belong. You will serve patrons of all ages and backgrounds while using your bilingual communication skills to help ensure Spanish-speaking community members can confidently access library services, resources, and opportunities.About the RoleSheridan Library is a busy neighborhood branch located near local schools, making it a popular destination after school. You will interact with patrons of all ages, with a high number of youth and teens visiting daily. Sheridan serves a diverse community, including many Spanish-speaking patrons, and this role helps ensure all visitors feel welcome, supported, and connected to library resources and services. If you enjoy building relationships, learning something new every day, and helping people feel at home in the library, you'll find meaningful work here.Key ResponsibilitiesPatron Assistance and Community EngagementGreet and proactively assist library visitors with account inquiries, resources, programs, and eventsProvide basic reference and advisory services in English and Spanish to help patrons access collections and discover materials that match their interestsSupport a safe and welcoming environment by setting expectations for library use and de-escalating concerns when neededBuild relationships with patrons to strengthen the library's role in the communityCollaborate with staff to connect patrons to specialized servicesTechnology AssistanceAssist patrons with library computers, printers, and other devices as well as e-resources and online databasesProvide support for basic technology troubleshooting and reservable spaces with AV equipmentProvide guidance and instruction in English and Spanish that helps patrons confidently access information, technology, and digital resourcesMaterials Handling and Library EnvironmentMaintain and merchandise library collections and displaysProcess, shelve, and manage materials and holds using library systemsStraighten and tidy spaces to ensure a welcoming experience for patronsLearning and DevelopmentStay current on library resources, trends, and technology to better serve patronsShare patron feedback and observations to improve servicesCollaborate with staff to meet district-wide and branch goalsWhat You Will BringCustomer Service Mindset: Ability to create a welcoming, positive experience for patrons of all agesBilingual Communication: Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide welcoming, effective service and support in both languagesRelationship Builder: Genuine interest in getting to know patrons and creating meaningful connections within the communityCuriosity and Love of Learning: Enjoy learning new things, asking questions, and helping patrons discover opportunities and resourcesTech Savvy: Comfortable troubleshooting technology and learning new systems alongside patronsTeam Collaboration: Strong communication skills and willingness to work with staff to serve community needsAdaptability: Ability to stay flexible, embrace changing priorities, and bring a positive attitude to a dynamic environmentEquity Focused Perspective: Commitment to inclusivity and embracing diverse perspectivesAlignment to ALD Core Values: Collaboration, equity, and innovation in every interactionQualificationsRequired:One year of customer service, library, or education or teaching experienceFluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide assistance and resources in both languagesAbility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekendsBasic technology skills for Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and Microsoft TeamsAbility to work with people of all ages and diverse backgroundsPreferred:Experience working with children and teensSchedule RequirementsThis is a part-time 30-hour position with a consistent weekly schedule:Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (closing shift)Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Saturday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Schedules are provided in advance to support consistency, work-life balance, and excellent service for the community.Who We AreAt Arapahoe Libraries, we are a forward thinking, inclusive organization committed to enriching lives and strengthening our community.
