Summary:

The Library/Media Paraprofessional will coordinate the daily operations of the school library/media center. In some cases, this might be under the supervision of a District Media Specialist and in some cases under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary or Secondary Curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in finding and using media materials and teach library skills to students.
  • Oversee usage of media materials, allocate and maintain logs on borrowed books and audio-visual equipment, send reminders for overdue items, and ensure items returned are in their appropriate place.
  • Order and process new books, periodicals, videos, etc. as needed. Maintain and repair existing collection.
  • May need to create bulletin boards reflecting seasonal activities, current curriculum topic, and student writings.
  • Prepare work for and supervise library volunteers, if applicable.
  • Prepare and control the library budget, if applicable.
  • Operate and/or troubleshoot electronic equipment.
  • Perform clerical and inventory duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • BA or Associates degree in Education Assistance and teacher certification preferred; related work experience preferred.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff and parents.
  • Computer expertise is required.
  • Must have strong organizational skills needed to track extensive media materials along with the ability to operate a variety of equipment.

Schedule:

Student calendar plus 1 week

7.5 hours/day

Compensation:

Level 2 - $15.74 - $18.42
