    Library Coordinator

    Academic Affairs (Library Services)                                                         

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Library Coordinator is responsible for managing one or more of the campus libraries at GNTC. The Coordinator processes library acquisitions, provides circulation services, maintains library records, compiles statistics, provides reference services and library instruction, trains and supervises campus library personnel, maintains library technology, and provides high quality user focused customer service.

    MAJOR DUTIES

    • Selects, orders, and receives library materials
    • Classifies materials using the Library of Congress Classification system and enters these records into the library management system
    • Assists uses with utilization of the library
    • Processes hold requests for books, journals, audio-visual materials, and/or other reference materials not currently available
    • Creates and maintains library overdue records, notices, and Banner blocking reports
    • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly statistics reports
    • Provides library instruction as requested
    • Trains campus part-time library assistants in the use of the library automation system, reference services, and daily responsibilities as needed
    • Assists in the upkeep and maintenance of library computers
    • Provides high quality, patron-focused customer service
    • Other duties assigned

    COMPETENCIES

    • Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging library technologies; and how they serve users
    • Skilled with Ex Libris library systems products such as Alma/Primo
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to determine effectively the root cause of issues and implement the appropriate solution
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning
    • Technical skills and a willingness to develop new competencies
    • Ability to have a broad vision of a modern academic library’s role online
    • Ability to develop online instruction materials
    • Ability to work with course management systems
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution; excellent communication, interpersonal, and technology skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • In addition to the minimum qualifications, two or more year’s library management experience and familiarity with Alma / Primo, GALILEO, EBSCO Stacks, Blackboard, and other library platforms

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree *and* Two (2) years related work experience - -Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
