Position Summary: The Library Assistant will assist with the day-to-day running of the library focusing on the circulation desk with additional technical services duties. Job Responsibilities: Circulation Desk Manage the circulation desk Answer student questions and provide coverage for the circulation desk. Process library reserves. Monitor the library student workers. Manage the library 's circulation system. Process overdue notices and assist with the return of overdue books and equipment. Open the library when needed. Monitor any building issues, i.e. facility work requests, etc. Technical Services Assist with the processing of books: prepare new books for circulation, process withdrawals, and process change of locations in the catalog. Assist with paperwork for invoices, purchase requests as needed. Monitor and order library supplies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience Previous library experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Basic computer skills Ability to work as a team player Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary, although periods of standing might be required. Manual dexterity to perform routine computer work is required. Working conditions are indoors. Benefits are competitive.
