Associate degree or sixty hours of college required. No experience required. Library experience would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Provides responsible technical, supervisory, and public services skills necessary in the operation of a specific work unit in the university library.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Process physical equipment in the Tools & Techs circulation collection and conduct periodic equipment inventories; Process paper reserve material which includes: files, professor's personal books, and library books. This includes material put on permanent reserve and course material that generally remains on reserve by the semester; Process electronic reserves which includes: scanning, remediating for accessibility, creating course pages, and linking scanned or database material to course pages.
Provide faculty with information about their reserve materials; Provide faculty and students with basic information about copyright; Refer faculty with more complex copyright questions to the Associate Director of Library Public Services; Maintain copyright records so that the Library conforms to copyright guidelines.
Close the library and the Service Desk on Friday evenings; Staff the Service Desk and Stacks as assigned, which includes, but not limited to: (1) Provide Circulation and Reserves services at the Service Desk; (2) Answer patron and faculty inquiries of a complex nature by telephone, email, or in person, including researching patron accounts and interpreting policy to patrons; (3) Handle patron cash and credit payments as needed; (4) Supervise student assistants: prioritizing, delegating, and monitoring work; (5) Assist in the training of student assistants; (6) Recommend revisions to policy and procedures as needed; (7) With all other Access Services staff, is responsible for building security.
Notify Billing Supervisor when charges for recalls should be placed on a patron account; Manages faculty periodical checkout audits; Review and approve, according to library and university standards, social media content created by student employee(s); Assist with monthly Circulation statistics in the absence of the Night Circulation Supervisor; Consistently enforce all Library and University policies for employees and patrons.
In rotation with all other Access Services staff, help to interview and hire student assistants as needed; Assist with staff hiring committees and training new staff upon request; Projects as identified or assigned; Perform other duties as needed to assure that functions and services are maintained.

Working conditions are normally in a semi-private or general working area of the library with little or no disagreeable conditions. Must be able to carry boxes, load and push book trucks and shelve books.
The normal work schedule is Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-6:00PM. In addition, the Reserves Supervisor is on a rotation schedule with other Access Services staff and is required to work assigned Saturdays (either banking time or flexing time during the same work week). Some evenings or nights may be requested if serious short-staffing problems arise.
