ROLE AND PURPOSE: The primary role of the Transition Liaison will be to work directly with the Turning Point staff and the administration at each of the AISD campuses in order to meet required state Discipline Alternative Education Program (DAEP) transition standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
- Texas Teacher Certification
- Three years successful classroom teaching experience
Preferred:
- Teaching experience in a DAEP
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Assist students in obtaining the necessary academic supports to be successful once they have transitioned to their home campuses.
II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
- Serve as the coordinator/team member for specified behavioral support programs (i.e. Restorative Discipline, Campus PBIS Team, etc.)
- Counsel individual students and small groups of students who are in at-risk situations
III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
- Demonstrate leadership ability
- Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others
- Display a strong propensity toward program organization and the ability to work independently
- Utilize good communication and interpersonal skills
IV. STUDENT MANAGEMENT
A. Manage the transition process for students that are transitioning to and from the DAEP campus. This may include, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Create and develop transition plans to assist student in goal setting
- Conduct exit interviews and surveys
- Assisting with the campus intake process
- Collect and analyze data to give reports on recidivism, student progress, and areas of need
B. Participate in student Placement Conferences
V. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Pursue continuous growth
- Attend trainings related to professional growth, as deemed necessary by the principal
VI. MISCELLANEOUS
- Use personal vehicle to travel to secondary campuses (mileage reimbursement will be provided)
- Possess a working knowledge of Texas DAEP standards
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by principal

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computers and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.

- Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress, with frequent interruptions.
