Liability Legal Coordinator, Risk Management

five (5) or more years of experience as litigation paralegal in a law practice specializing in premises and fleet liability litigations with experience in issues of civil discovery, corporate and insurance litigation, legal billing, negligence, vehicle and premises liability claims, subrogation and court procedures. at least two (2) years of experience as a litigation paralegal with a corporation, government agency, or law firm, or two years’ experience with general liability claims in a law office, government agency, insurance claims office or corporate risk management department.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent 
• at least two (2) years of experience as a litigation paralegal with a corporation, government agency, or law firm, or two years’ experience with general liability claims in a law office, government agency, insurance claims office or corporate risk management department. Relative experience could also include personal injury, liability, insurance defense, or premises liability paralegal experience.  
• knowledge of: 
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word) 
  • various state court systems in which Publix operates (FL, GA, AL, SC, NC, VA, TN, KY)  
  • timetables and procedures from process of service to bench trials 
  • the workings of attorney’s offices as well as various states entities 
• skills: 
  • analytical and problem solving 
  • excellent written and verbal communication 
  • negotiation and mediation skills 
  • interpersonal skills 
  • data entry and computer experience 
• ability to:

Preferred Qualifications

•  
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline 
• five (5) or more years of experience as litigation paralegal in a law practice specializing in premises and fleet liability litigations with experience in issues of civil discovery, corporate and insurance litigation, legal billing, negligence, vehicle and premises liability claims, subrogation and court procedures 
• Paralegal Certification, and/or licensed notary 
• All Lines Adjuster in state(s) in which Publix operates  
• Knowledge of: 
  • Publix’s policies and procedures including, but not be limited to retail operations, warehouse and fleet operations, real estate, loss prevention, and accounting 
  • Evaluating fleet/auto property-damage claims, paying claims, and recovering Publix losses. 
  • Pursuing and collecting small claims or magistrate court judgments involving vehicle or property damage. 
  • Preparing cases and witnesses and presenting legal and factual positions at hearings, mediations, and trials. 
• computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word & Excel, Nexis Lexis/Westlaw, SAP/Sharp
