TradeSTAR is hiring an experienced Level II Voice/Data Technician for an opportunity with one of our established client companies serving the San Antonio market. If you have solid commercial structured cabling experience and can handle installations from pathway to testing, this is an opportunity to put your skills to work and continue building toward Lead Technician and other advanced roles.
What You ll Do
As a Level II Voice/Data Technician, you ll work on commercial structured cabling installations throughout the San Antonio area. You ll be expected to work independently when needed while contributing to a professional installation team.
You ll:
Identify, pull, route, dress, and label Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
Install J-hooks, support rings, cable slings, ladder rack, cable tray, and other support structures.
Terminate Cat5e and Cat6 workstation outlets.
Rough-in and terminate 110 blocks, 66 blocks, patch panels, and other MDF/IDF equipment.
Work with multi-pair copper and fiber cabling.
Perform basic and higher-level cable testing and document results.
Read blueprints and identify proper cable pathways.
Assist with site surveys and project layout when needed.
Maintain clean, professional cable installation and dressing.
Help lead small crews of approximately 3 7 technicians when assigned.
What We re Looking For
You should bring:
2 4 years of commercial Voice/Data or structured cabling experience.
Strong Cat5e and Cat6 installation and termination skills.
Experience working in MDFs, IDFs, and telecommunications rooms.
Knowledge of industry cabling standards and color codes.
Experience installing cable support systems.
Ability to read blueprints and determine cable pathways.
Experience using structured cabling test equipment.
Exposure to fiber optic cabling and terminations.
Experience with multi-pair copper cabling.
Ability to work independently and as part of a larger installation team.
Leadership ability to help direct a small crew.
A safety-conscious, dependable approach to the job.
