Level 3 Mechanical Engineer – UAS Launch System Design
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Seniority: Level 3 Mechanical Engineer
Reports To: Chief Engineer
Purple Rhombus | Fort Worth, TX
At Purple Rhombus, we're building unmanned aircraft systems designed for mass production and real-world missions. We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to take our prototype UAS launch system from a working concept to a reliable, production-ready product.
This isn't a role spent exclusively behind a CAD workstation. You'll work directly with hardware, solve real engineering challenges, and help bring a new product into production.
Own the transition from prototype to production, improving reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
Design and release mechanical components, CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
Simplify designs to reduce cost, part count, and assembly time.
Develop production tooling, fixtures, and assembly processes.
Integrate motors, drive systems, bearings, cooling systems, and other electromechanical components.
Work directly with technicians, suppliers, and engineers to build, test, and troubleshoot hardware.
Support testing, design improvements, and production readiness.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of mechanical design, product development, or manufacturing experience.
Strong 3D CAD, technical drawing, and GD&T skills.
Practical knowledge of machining, welding, sheet metal, and mechanical assemblies.
Experience building, testing, and troubleshooting physical hardware.
An engineer who enjoys getting their hands dirty and solving problems.
Experience taking prototypes into production.
Experience with powered machinery, electromechanical systems, or aerospace ground equipment.
Familiarity with FEA, vibration, fatigue, or structural analysis.
Experience working with machine shops, suppliers, and production teams.
You'll have a direct impact on hardware that matters, working with a small, fast-moving engineering team focused on delivering capable, affordable unmanned aircraft systems at scale.
If you enjoy designing things, building them, breaking them, and making them better, we want to hear from you.
