Description

Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work preparing legal documents, answering phones and providing information to the public, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the District Attorney.

Examples of Duties

  • Assists with case management by preparing correspondence and court documents; ensures accuracy and completeness of court filings and reports.
  • Prepares and reviews discovery documents; provides them to appropriate legal representatives as required.
  • Receives and responds to telephone and in-person inquiries, complaints, and service requests and resolves them within the framework of established policies and procedures or forwards them to the appropriate party for disposition; assists the public with the completion of standardized forms or documents if needed.
  • Enters a variety of data into the system and/or database for criminal, juvenile, and traffic referrals for changes for law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintains records and files; sorts, indexes, and files material alphabetically, numerically, geographically, or by other predetermined classification; destroys and deletes files as instructed.

Thorough knowledge of County and department policies and procedures to include emergency and inclement weather policies; ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent projects; attention to detail and ability to effectively organize time and anticipate, plan and successfully respond to changing circumstances; thorough knowledge of court documents; knowledge of the Discovery process; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to operate and use standard office equipment; knowledge and ability to use standard office and position-specific software; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other departments and the general public; work requires the ability to manage highly stressful situations, including adversarial relationships with other parties, working closely with people who have experienced significant trauma, and managing a high-paced, high-volume caseload.
