    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Legal Operations Manager will assist with various elements of process improvement, metrics and analytics, and general administration and operations of the Legal Department. This position will ensure operation objectives and results are in accordance with overall department needs. Works in direct partnership with the VP-Legal, Legal Operations to help execute HCA Healthcare’s legal strategic roadmap and drive continuous improvement. The position requires strong organizational and analytical skills. The position also requires frequent communication and interaction with business, IT and operational leaders outside of the Legal Department in supports of its initiatives. Finally, the position requires good working relationships with outside counsel to ensure they are in line with our operational requirements.​

    Major Responsibilities:​

    • ​​Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency​
    • Serve as partner to the Vice President to develop and execute operational strategies
    • Lead and create efficiency projects (people/process/technology) to both reduce cost and time
    • Creation and implementation of programs and operational processes that are designed to ensure sustainability and scalability
    • Ensure the smooth flow of business processes, providing additional assistance and resources as needed
    • Engage in the retention, management and evaluation of outside counsel
    • Coordinate department meetings and legal retreats, including scheduling, technical support, communications, and meeting materials​

    Knowledge Management​

    • Create and maintain the Legal Department's SharePoint site as a centralized source for legal resources, training, education, and department information.​
    • Support Legal Department’s implementation and utilization of technology tools, including those using artificial intelligence.

    ​​​Metrics and Analytics​

    • Serves as Legal Department’s primary partner to Finance, using Finance-approved data as the source of record for legal spend analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.​
    • ​​​Analyze current and historical legal spending to identify major drivers, areas of elevated spend, budget to actual variances, and year over year trends.​
    • Develop and manage dashboards and executive ready reports that clearly communicate financial performance, emerging risks, key trends, and recommended actions. ​
    • Partner with Legal Department VPs to regularly review financial performance, variances, validate forecasting assumptions, and develop actions to manage spend. ​

    Education & Experience:

    • Juris Doctorate (JD) Preferred​
    • Bachelor’s Required​
    • 7+ years of experience in business operations, legal operations, finance, analytics, consulting, or a related field. Required​
    • Working knowledge of legal department operations required; direct law firm or in-house legal experience preferred. Required​ Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
    • Ocassional Travel: This job may require travel from time to time, but not on a regular basis 

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:

    • Significant operational experience preferred Required​
    • Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, coaching, and interpersonal skills Required​
    • Skill in recognizing strategic business opportunities resulting from changes in the economic, technological, political/legal, or social environments Required​
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels of global, multi-functional team Required​

    • Proactive approach to recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues and developing solutions Required​
    • Self-starter, with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and responsibilities in fast-paced environment Required​
