Description: Our client is currently seeking a Legal Counsel

Job Overview:
The Legal Counsel works closely with colleagues in the Legal Department to provide legal advice and services to SHL Medical and its affiliates. Reports to the Head of Legal for North America.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an advisor to the Head of Legal, US, and collaborate with the Legal Department.
  • Provide accurate, timely legal advice and keep employees informed on relevant legal developments.
  • Prepare, draft, and negotiate legal documents related to commercial and corporate transactions.
  • Support the build‑out and ramp‑up of the manufacturing site in South Carolina.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on employment law matters.
  • Manage corporate governance, compliance, and secretarial responsibilities, including business registrations and maintenance of legal documents.
  • Coordinate and oversee legal work performed by attorneys, paralegals, and outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Represent SHL Medical in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, post‑closing integration, and reorganization.
  • Develop and implement internal policies and global legal and compliance training.
  • Support both short‑term and long‑term departmental and organizational goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Legal, US, or the Chief Legal Officer.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of South Carolina.
  • Three to Five years of post‑qualification experience, including law firm or in‑house roles.
  • Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, health regulatory environments, or intellectual property licensing is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, cross‑cultural environment.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a fast‑paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks independently or collaboratively.
