Legal Practice Assistant - Corporate/Transactional

Location: Southern California (San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, Irvine, Del Mar)

Schedule: Hybrid

Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time

Compensation: $85,000 - $110,000 annually (non-exempt), depending on experience

Our client, a highly regarded California law firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to provide high-level legal and administrative support to attorneys within its corporate, business, and transactional law practice. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and can manage multiple priorities while delivering outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, revise, and format legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and other materials.

  • Read, interpret, and implement attorney edits to legal documents.

  • Coordinate attorney calendars, meetings, and client communications.

  • Prepare files, materials, and documentation for meetings and client matters.

  • Attend meetings as requested.

  • Notarize documents and assist with electronic recording processes.

  • Open new matters and coordinate conflict check requests.

  • Maintain client and matter files in accordance with firm procedures.

  • Track workflow and assignments using legal support systems.

  • Collaborate with records, conflicts, office services, and other administrative departments.

  • Provide day-to-day legal and administrative support to attorneys.

  • Assist with special projects and overflow assignments as needed.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client and firm information.

  • Manage competing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal support experience in a law firm environment.

  • Experience supporting corporate, business, and/or transactional attorneys.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with iManage strongly preferred.

  • Experience with BigHand and ProLaw is a plus.

  • Notary Public certification and eRecording experience are beneficial.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with legal and administrative teams.

  • Litigation experience is a plus.

California Pay Transparency

The anticipated pay range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is classified as non-exempt. Benefits are available to eligible employees.
