(QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Memphis office. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
Job Summary
The Legal Assistant in this role will support attorneys handling General Liability and Insurance Defense litigation matters. This is a hands-on position requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Draft and prepare correspondence and legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, and reports under attorney direction
Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including trial and discovery deadlines
Schedule depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings
Organize and maintain case files, including opening, closing, and ongoing file management
Monitor case progress and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement
Assist attorneys with time entry and billing support
Prepare, issue, and track subpoenas and other records requests
Handle state and federal e-filing of documents
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
Perform additional administrative and litigation support duties as assigned
Qualifications
3+ years of legal assistant experience supporting litigators in general liability or insurance defense, preferably in a high-volume law firm environment
Strong working knowledge of civil litigation procedures
Experience with Tennessee state e-filing systems required; PACER experience a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
High School Diploma or equivalent required
